In the city of Null
We begin at the annual culture festival and competition that helps to foster peace between the lands. Three renowned adventurers took part this time facing mostly average people attempting to prove themselves. However, this was not as simple for our heroes as they thought it might be. One of our adventurers, a young boy, performed extremely well and took second place in most of the competitions. Another, a strange monk from the East with a penchant for smoke bombs and posing when he performs special techniques or defeats an opponent manged to pull and overall victory after barely obtaining enough wins to warrant his position.
Finally, a local cleric made a showing at the games starting part way through and still managed to take third place. Our heroes all managed to get through overall, but they didn’t simply plow through every competition. Representatives from The Empire, The Dominion, and even a Tribesman from the East all made a solid showing and even managed to defeat the heroes in some of the individual events.
After the competition
Things immediately took a dark turn as the representative from The Dominion was assassinated for his failure. The cleric, seeking to save the man, successfully revived him only to be immediately attacked by the previously dead competitor. That anyone would attempt to defy The Dominion was the greatest of insults to this citizen who clearly valued his homeland more than his own life. He was foiled in his attempt on the cleric’s life and the young boy managed to subtly kill the man by summoning a pack of dogs that then mauled the man to death. Many believed he was killed by rabid strays drawn to the smell of the man’s blood.
The cleric returned to his clinic to treat his own wounds as well as to assist others who were injured in the games. There he ran into the boy from the competition. The boy conversed with the cleric after performing some cheeky childish antics and it was learned that the boy was in fact a vampire. He “recently” became free when his master was killed and he managed to escape his own death. He told the cleric that he was now seeking to regain his mortality in the hopes of being able to grow up for he was certainly older mentally than he was physically. The cleric agreed to assist the lad and so we have the beginning of a powerful adventuring party. The monk is still in the clinic and fate is likely conspiring to bring him into the path of these two other powerful figures.
One character remains to be introduced, and our heroes have yet to find what fate has in store for them. Only time can tell what great challenges and treasures lie ahead.
