Four major warring factions make up the known world.

These four factions are in a stalemate that has lasted for thousands of years. At some point long ago they set up a neutral territory in the center of the land mass on which these groups reside. Every year representatives from each faction come together and spread their culture while earning renown and hoping to gain some insight into the others that they might finally gain an advantage that can grant them supremacy.

To the North lies the lands of The Empire. Nestled in the mountains is The Imperial Capital of Bastion. From here the emperor commands his armies in their quest for military dominance. There is no army more well trained than that of The Empire and one of their warriors is worth five from another land…

The South is the home of the Great Merchants Collective. The Collective maintains its independence through clever business tactics and a large mercenary army. The sheer financial power wielded by the Collective makes them a dangerous force as they also hold the greatest means of arms and armor production…

In the West on a pair of large islands lies The Dominion of Vordal. Led from the shadows by the aforementioned Vordal. Nobody has spoken of directly meeting the mysterious leader which leads some to believe that he does not really exist. This is a dangerous thought that may get citizens killed. With many strict laws governing the military and economy it is reminiscent of an Orwellian dystopia. However, most of the citizens seem to be fairly happy and gladly follow the laws dictated to them from their superiors…

Finally there are the Free Tribes found in the East. So named because they are not really one nation, but a collection of various tribes who all follow their own rules and customs. However, recognizing the threat posed by the other three more organized nations, representatives from most of the tribes have reached an agreement that should an incursion occur, the tribes shall band together creating a powerful and dangerous guerrilla force that makes even The Empire think twice about assaulting them.

Many strong adventures and heroes have risen from each of these lands and proved themselves, though most never make into legend as truly powerful or inspiring. There are however a few that have distinguished themselves through various means. These are the legendary heroes that seek to forever cement themselves in the annals of history and they are the subject of this story.
